on Weed Biology

Presentation in french (click here)

The 12th International Conference on Weed Biology will be held as usual in Dijon (France) on
August 31th – September 2nd 2004 at ENESAD, 26 bd du Docteur Petitjean à Dijon (France).

Conference organised by the working group on Biology, Ecology and Systematics of Weeds from AFPP , with the participation of the European Weed Research Society and the UMR INRA-ENESAD-UB Biologie et Gestion des Adventices.

This year the scientific organization will be mainly conducted by several EWRS Working groups. So the offered papers must fit in the following

Provisional scientific programme

  1. Physical and cultural weed control (Bo Melander, Nicolas Munier-Jolain).
Development of physical and cultural  weed control and its implementation in sustainable agriculture.

  2. Crop-weeds interactions (Lammert Bastiaans, Henri Darmency).
Fundamental understanding of processes governing crop-weeds interaction as well as utilisation of this knowledge for improved weed management.

  3. Site specific weed management (Svend Christensen, Louis Assemat).
State-of-art of sensors, GPS/GIS hard- and software and some implements (mainly sprayers) in agronomic and biological exploitation for specific weed monitoring and management.

  4. Weed biology in other cropping conditions (Pascal Marnotte, Bruno Chauvel).
Weed biology and control in tropical crops, biological control, biodiversity and endangered species …

  5. Herbicide resistance (Jean-Pierre Claude, Jacques Gasquez).
Use of both cultural and chemical methods to prevent further development of resistances as well as management strategies of resistant populations.

  6. Optimisation of herbicide dose (Per Kudsk, Christian Gauvrit).
Research on chemical weed control in crop production : optimisation (adjustment of doses to the weed problems) and reduction of herbicide inputs (reduction of soil pollution).
